Embroidery finished

Last year at Open Studio I was working on two machine and hand embroidered projects. Ever since that summer life has been very busy but also very quiet and a bit lazy or let’s call it restful 🙂  As the Open Studio is approaching again I thought I better finish them in case people are going to ask about them. This bank holiday rainy Monday was the perfect time for that!  

This is how it started in May last year – picture of a floral heart which caught my attention … so I traced it on fine tissue paper, stitched through the paper with yellow thread onto purple silk. This choice of colours was made based on the colour of perle cotton I had – gorgeous purple and yellow variegated.  

At the beginning I thought I’ll just do few french knots and maybe fill a leaf or two … 

And then I got carried away and I couldn’t stop!! And I enjoyed every single stitch I have made …

I even unpicked one of the first stitches – the biggest filler – to make it look better, I didn’t like the way I did it the first time round. 

So for now it’s finished and I’m very pleased with it. Now I need to decide what kind of frame to put it into!! Will show you the final picture soon …
