Award winning quilters Vendulka and her husband Oliver have evolved a fascinating technique to stitch and embellish whole cloth quilts. Vendulka gives us a demo of her technique and shares the secrets that go into the deign and construction of their work. The intricate design of the quilts in this exhibition have been designed by Olivier and quilted by Vendulka. Each has been embellished with the use of glittery and metallic paints to bring more colour and, more interestingly, ‘bling’ to their work, which is not often seen in textiles. Cathedral windows – New Views
Vendulka’s passion for Cathedral windows turned into her first self-published book.
She doesn’t use the traditional method of folding squares and sewing them together by hand. In her method there is way less fabric used and it is constructed mostly by machine, with the hand sewing option to finish the windows off.
