Description

In this class we will create a tree concentrating on hand embroidery, with the option of creating your tree trunk by machine if you wish to speed up the process. You don’t need to know many stitches, in fact, you can be beginner to hand embroidery all together. You can decide to keep your work in the hoop or I will show you an examples of how to finish it of for the frame.

Requirement

I like to use variegated perle cotton for my foliage as it give s the three liveness and more dimension without me having have to change my threads too often. I start by choosing that one and then I have a look if I have any matching beads, what colour background this would sit well  on and choose the threads for the tree trunk as last.

Embroidery hoop

Fabric slightly larger than your embroidery hoop or slightly larger than your frame you’re going to use to put it in.

Medium weight iron on interfacing the same size as your fabric

For the tree – either machine thread if you‘re happy to just embroider on the machine or thicker yarn for couching or embroidery thread for making it by hand.

For the foliage – Embroidery threads ( my favourite ones are perlé 5 or 8) stranded cotton, sequins, seed beads, tiny buttons – whatever catches your eye in your stash.

Scissors, chenille needles, sewing machine (optional)
